Pass Plus is aimed at new drivers to help them become better drivers. The course was designed by the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) with the help of insurers and the driving instruction industry and will require a minimum of 6 hours to complete. We would recommend that the course be split into two or three sessions, six hours of driving in one day is a lot even for an experienced driver.
Statistics show that new drivers are more likely to have an accident in the first two years after passing their test due to lack of experience. Pass Plus builds on your skills and knowledge. It will teach you how to anticipate, plan for and deal with all kinds of hazards, to help you become a more confident driver.
Pass Plus consists of six modules about driving in different conditions, they are:
- in town
- in all weathers
- on rural roads
- at night
- on dual carriageways
- on motorways
There is no test to take and once you’ve completed the course, the DSA will send you your Pass Plus certificate and you may be able to claim discount off your first year’s car insurance.
